At Night, SSW is Byrnin' Bright!

Even though the classes, demonstrations, and activities were so much fun, it was at night when the grooves started to play.

Jim Byrnes grew up blocks away from the Mississippi River in the heart of St Louis. The local bowling alley was a main hangout for him, and it wasn't unusual for such greats as Ike and Tina Turner to be the house band there. Mississippi River Blues runs in his veins and pumps his blood no matter where he calls home.

The LAX Sheraton was drawn back to those roots that Saturday night. Under the spell of the incredible guitarist, we shivered and quaked to the rockin' rhythm of the Byrnes Blues. Playing his electric acoustic solo, Jim needed no backup to get down and dirty. A combination of his old favorites and a few new ones kept the crowd bumping and grinding through the entire night.

Being fellow guests, our Editor and Jason Carter of Babylon 5 got along great, both being full of energy and excitement. Later on, they ended up at the bar and furiously debated over whether a particular indoor palm tree was real.

Maureen Russell - Guest Writer, author of "Highlander, The Complete Watcher's Guide" the quintessential reference book for every Highlander: The Series lover. Authorized by the producers, this manual takes the show from the writers through post-production along with personal insights from some of the cast and crew themselves. Especially handy is the Episode Guide found at the back of the book. Maureen has been a lively addition to the guest list at recent Highlander Conventions. She graced the SSW with a session entitled "The Best of Highlander."

Maureen didn't really swallow her bath soap. I caught this cute expression while the guest panel was waving their bubble swords about and showers of bubbles surrounded the stage.
