The Russel Char Display

Russel Char's display had a wonderful assortment of both standard and exotic. Of special note was a silver-motif katana which featured a lovely traditional blade.

The Glass Display

Next to the Sacramento Japanese Sword Club's table was a series of glass cabinets. If I find out who runs the display, I will update this article accordingly!

The display comprised two cabinets with several swords each on either side of a display of antique tsuba (Japanese sword guards).

One particular piece (photo: right) is a rare piece comprising gold detailing over blackened iron. In each of the six rings of this ornate guard is a different mon which are generally clan crests of Samurai families.

Of interesting note is a cane sword (photo: below) made from a singular material that looks like bamboo. The scabbard's end is equipped with a steel cap, while the handle is a ribbed contoured grip.

Photo: Above - Note the sword on the very top. A historical walking stick or a sword within?

Photo: Above - Closeup of the scabbard of the previous display's top-most sword. This is a samurai motif emblem adorning the scabbard.
