Discussion Forums Contacting Forums Administrator
The Forums Administrator may be contacted for forums-related technical issues only. Things like sword identification and
appraisals are best done on the Discussion Forums. The admins do not answer sword-related questions because the acting
administrator may not be a sword collector at all.
There is no need to e-mail us if the forums are down. Just give us time to resolve the issue.
You may contact the admin for:
- Renaming User I.D. - Do not re-register your account if you've accidentally ignored our "REAL FULL NAMES" requirement
for
user ID's. We can rename your nickname account so that any posts will be retroactively updated to reflect your real
name.
- Technical Issues - Can't log on, etc.
WAIT! Before you e-mail us, do you have an issue with not being able to post or log in issues? Please consult our Technical F.A.Q. which steps you through how to resolve the issue on your end.
If all else fails, HERE to contact
Forums Administrator.
ABUSE
Forums Administrator to report any abuse of our discussion forum system. Abuse is generally technical in nature (e.g.
someone's "avatar" is a 130kb animation that slows everyone's modem connection down, or someone uses our forums to host
images for another website).
DISPUTES
As the number of participants on our forums have increased tremendously over the years, disputes arising from industry
politics and people's past histories have become increasingly complex. The Forums Administrators or Moderators or SFI
Staff cannot always arbitrate effectively given that SFI is a volunteer effort over and above our regular occupations and
each volunteer's duties are steadily increasing. Therefore if you make the effort to make it easier for us, it will help
tremendously.
If it's something obvious where someone is blatantly breaking the rules, contact the Moderator in charge of the
forum and report the post to him/her (the Report Post feature is on the bottom of each post's page).
If it's something far more complex which creates tension between SFI and another organization or another discussion forum
website, please describe the situation to us and bring us up to speed.
You must understand that people sometimes are lazy and do not take time to explain the situation to us. Instead they just
give us a link to an offending thread and expect us to read every single post on there.
Sometimes we've had to read up to 150+ posts in order to fully comprehend the situation. That not only takes up our time
but we also have to discern any hidden agendas or subtle politics. If it comes to this, we will settle this based on
"First Mention", i.e. we will
address the first occurence of
offense that we see within that thread.
