If that's the era, I'd guess it would have been their armor, either that or their surcoats. The reason I asked was because I was getting it mixed up with certain units in the English Civil War who got known for wearing reds, or blues, or whites. Anybody want to look up some Osprey book on the Italian Wars or 14th century Longbowmen, and settle the matter, in the event these guys are mentioned?
